Blondes - continued

One great job leads to referals. I want to thank Lindsay, our red to blonde project client, for referring a friend to come and see us. This client wants to go blonde, and she had a full head of highlights done before coming to see us. The highlights did not get her the results that she was trying to get, and she wants to go overall more blonde like in the cover photo.

I sat down with her, listened to what she had to say and looked at style magazines together to get an idea how blonde she wants to go. Her target color is actually a lot lighter than she is, and the overall highlights she had on her hair does not help to make my job easier; in fact it makes it even harder, because I wouldn't be able to do a full head bleach out. If she didn't have the highlights I can just prelighten her hair to her target shade and put on fresh highlights, but with her highlights in there I have to be careful not to stress her hair out with lightening products. To ensure we can keep her hair healthy, and make it lighter, I suggested that we do this blonding project in 2 stages: First, we do a deep cleanse, which will remove all colors she had done before, and give us a lighter, cleaner base to work with. Then, we can see where it takes us: if not light enough, we would lighten her hair again, if she's happy with the lightness, we'll put on a base color and do some highlights. By doing this in 2 stages, and not go with lightening right off the bat, will make sure we don't put unnecessary stress on the hair.
So we did the deep cleansing, and we got an overall lighter base and it was quite orangy/coppery, because that was the undercoat of her natural color. As I talked before, we can use color to neutralize/tone "natural color", so now we can use color to give us a nice golden blonde. We also added some more highlights to get her closer to her target color:

I think we got the base color quite close to the target shade, next time when we add more streaks for her, it'll give her what she wanted to get. Don't you think she looks fabulous with blonde?
